I legitimately feel like this song is about Doctor Who. Maybe about the Doctor from a companion's point of view -- either Donna or Rose, I think... Gosh, I feel like a huge nerd right now, I'm gonna go. |

Oh, I really love this song. I'm pretty sure it's about a couple that, contrary to what some people have said, loves one another ("you couldn't love me more"/"I couldn't ever love you more"). They're still in love and all that gooey stuff, but the narrator isn't as good as portraying his feelings as whoever he is singing to ("me, I don't show much") and he feels bad about that, like she deserves more than him and what he can offer in the relationship. That's why he says he wouldn't try to stop her from leaving ("go, if you want to"), and why he says she is "feeling low". However, he's basically saying it's really her decision and he's got no more to offer when he contradicts the part saying she can leave with "stay, if you want to". Um, anyway. Just my two cents. |
