I think the song is about a couple being together and girl really loves this guy. He knows that it is not working out and tells her that he wants to "just be friends". She tells him that she still loves him. Then she cuts him off and does not want to be his friend or have anything to do with him because she is very hurt. He sees her and she pretends that he is a stranger and that nothing ever happened between them. He is hurt by this, as he loved her as a friend and still wanted her in his life. She thinks he screwed her over by leading her on and making her think that there was something more there. He couldn't love her for more than a friend because was still in love his ex. She ended up being the rebound girl. |

This is such a beautiful song. I love the duet of Scout Niblett and Will Oldham. I'm a huge Bonnie "Prince" Billy fan. To me this song is about a couple of friends that both have feelings for each other. Their is a built up of love turns to passion, leading to their first kiss. This is about true love. |

This is a song about a guy who meets a girl that he believes is going to save him from his life that is full of pain, emotional problems and/or maybe drugs. She tries to help him with the love she has for him. She is blinded by this love. The relationship is a struggle, with many ups and downs. After a while, she realizes she has heard all the lines and lies that he has used before. He does something to really screw it up. By now she realizes that what she has to do is let him go because she knows she can't save him and he is not going to change. He finds out that he has hurt her deeply causing her to leave with a broken heart (the fire in your heart is out). Now that she is gone, he wants to apologize and tell her so many things, but he does not know how or what to say to her. It's too late for them, because she has already moved on. He feels at that moment that no other man will feel about her the same way he does. He is grateful for all that she has done. After it's all been said and done, he then realizes that she was his "Wonderwall". |
