I have two very different interpretations of this song, both dark for some reason. When I listen to music my brain automatically paints a picture lol I'm strange. anywho First, I kinda see a girl being sucked into a dark, mysterious world by a stranger. She is hesitant and afraid, for good reason too. But he charms her past her fear and she gives in. Then, I see somebody recovering from the death of a loved one. Maybe this was a parent, spouse, sibling or child but they're trying to figure out how to live and love again. |

I think it's about being newly famous. When I hear it, I hear many different themes, but I think the theme that best fits the lyrics is the idea of finally making it. You're looking down at the city instead of looking up, you're not struggling at the bottom you're at the top and you don't plan on going anywhere. The past is trying to rear it's ugly head (howling ghosts) but you're stronger. You have left friends and family behind and they are amazed at what you've become (passed the wondering eyes of the ones we left behind) but you try to reassure them you're still the same people, you haven't changed. And in the end, no matter how the fame and money come, you have the king and the lion heart, both strong and neither can do without the other. Just a thought. ^_^ |

| This is about a dreamer. A girl who is beautiful because she hasn't lost her innocence, her ability to dream and see the world in a sweet, childlike way. She lives in her head and she "fights for her life" by trying to live in the world but not be tainted by it. This song is truly beautiful, the perfect interpretation of young adulthood in my opinion. | |

| When I think of this song, I think of love as only love is when you're legally able to drink and make the worst mistakes of your life. I think of losing somebody you love and trying to move on. You find a new person to bury your sorrows into, you're out with friends, and here comes your ex, with their friends. You can only be happy they didn't come with someone, and you plan on being the one they leave with. Of course that doesn't happen. If you watch the video, it reflects that emotional fight very well and quite literally. Love sucks when you're young. :) | |
