| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – Electricity Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
"Electricity All we need to live today A gift for man to throw away" I think the song is about our tendency to take life (energy) for granted. I try not to read too far into it, but based on this line and the tone of the song, he sounds a little bitter so it sort of makes sense. |

| Alice Cooper – Poison Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
"I want to love you but I better not touch" Sounds to me like she's hurting him in some way... Possibly leading him on, cheating on him, or just plain not interested. Either way he seems to be obsessing over her and that's why she's poison to him. "I don't want to break these chains" Even though she's messing him up, he doesn't want to give up on the thought so he's stuck in a dilemma. Also, this line of the song pretty much nullifies the idea that it could be about drugs or alcohol, because he would definitely want to break the chains |

| Reel Big Fish – Beer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
The lines that stand out: "She looks like Heaven, maybe this is Hell" He's saying he still has feelings for her, but she'll only put him through Hell again if he goes back to her. "If I get drunk and I'm passed out on the floor, you won't bother me no more." The thought of her doesn't bother him while he's intoxicated, but it's not really a good solution (which is why he words it so bluntly). |

| Cheap Trick – Surrender Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
When he says "Surrender but don't give yourself away" I really think it means this: Surrender: Accept the fact that parents were all kids at one point But don't give yourself away: But don't let it bother you. The lines in the verse just contrast the two sides of being a parent (mature/immature), while the chorus sums it up. The line "Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird" highlights the theme. |

| John Denver – Take Me Home, Country Roads Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It's funny because West Virginia is not that great but he opens the song saying it's just like "Heaven." I know whenever I'm away from home long enough I sometimes have those feelings as well, and exaggerate the positive aspects of my hometown. Definitely a song about longing for home, or what used to be home. | |
| Norman Greenbaum – Spirit In The Sky Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Greenbaum explicitly stated that it's just a simple song inspired by old Western movies. It's NOT religious satire, and it's NOT Christian praise music, despite all of you atheists wanting to claim it as your own. It's supposed to be spiritual so he chose Christianity because he had to choose something. It's NOT because he's Christian, and it's NOT because he's satiring religion. Get over yourselves | |
