Black Sabbath – Born Again Lyrics 1 year ago
@[the1145794:52052] Jut out of curiosity, is this your interpretation of the lyrics, or something the songwriter actually stated?

Black Sabbath – Heaven And Hell Lyrics 5 years ago
Every place I have seen the lyrics of this song written it says "You get to keep the gold that falls"

However ... when I listen to the song, I can't hear these words. I'm not 100% sure what I'm hearing but I am pretty sure it's not that. There distinctly no "p" sound at the end of the word alleged to be "keep."

It sounds like "You give the king the gold that falls" or something similar. Anyone else hear this?

Black Sabbath – War Pigs Lyrics 13 years ago
As a religious person, who likes Black Sabbath, the only criticism I have of this song is that they might be giving Satan a bit too much credit.

The last line is, "Satan laughing spreads his wings..." it's as if Satan and not God will have the last word in all of this.

But I don't think they actually meant it that way, and the overall message of the song is good.

Black Sabbath – A National Acrobat Lyrics 13 years ago
I think the song is made of three parts. The first part is about birth, including the sperm/embryo stuff people spoke about. The second part, where the riff turns funky, is about death and rebirth (reincarnation). The third part is the instrumental bit at the end, which is sort of a musical interpretation of the soul entering the next life.

I haven't read much Nietzsche, but the idea "Here I wait and only guess what this next life will bring..." seems to indicate that the next life will not be a repeat of this one. So it could be inspired by the Hindu concept of rebirth and Karma, although this idea is common to other religions as well.

The point of the song is summed up in one of the last lines "Just remember love is life, and hate is living death. Treat your life for what it's worth and live for ev'ry breath."

Frank Black – Pure Denizen of the Citizens Band Lyrics 13 years ago
My experience with Frank Black songs is usually that they don't make any sense at first. However, then I learn some new information, (like in this case citizen's band means CB radio,) and the song makes perfect sense.
