This song is stunning - especially the chorus when it builds a way through. I agree with philfs that it could very well be about an actual woman. However my initial impression is that it's about heroin. If you go through the lyrics with that in mind it actually makes a lot of sense. But either way, it's definitely about something beautiful, but entirely destructive - a huge theme of theirs and highlighted in this album. |

Sounds like the "I" in this is heroin. I'm a righteous heartache, never gonna let you get close to mine I'm a punk every time, give me a little room and I'll spit in your eye I'm a red-blooded sickness I'm a fine line teaser, never been nothing but a cheater etc. etc. From what I glean, this song is about how heroin robs you of your conscience and I particularly like the line "Cause it don't mean all that much does it? But we never really had a choice" which is exactly what it feels like to be an addict. Actually, I get the feeling that the entire album is a struggle with addiction - heroin in particular. Love it. |
