| Billy Joel – Goodnight Saigon Lyrics
|
The song is about the war in Vietnam. Marines train in 2 places, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) west which is in San Diego, and MCRD East, which is in Parris Island, South Carolina. It talks about recruits who go to train at Parris Island so that they can be prepared for what will go on in Vietnam. They essentially train for one reason, and that's to go to war in Vietnam. This song joins the two experiences, of recruit training and warfare. "We, held the day
In the palm of our hands. They, ruled the night And the night, seemed to last as long as six weeks On Parris Island" The Marines and Soldiers had the advantage during the day, but at night the Vietcong (VC) had a greater advantage. The US firepower from planes dropping napalm and their vision was limited at night, and their were probably more attacks at night. |

| Dwight Yoakam – Streets Of Bakersfield Lyrics

To me it's about Mexican Immigrants coming to the US and working for a better life for themselves and others. Bakersfield is a place where they find work and bust their asses for money so they can support their family. They face prejudice and discrimination and they tell those who judge them, "how many of you who judge me can do my job?" |

| Sixx: A.M. – Permission Lyrics

Take it for what it is, he's talking about his addiction and how it has affected those he loves, including himself. He could be talking about God, his girlfriend, wife, mother or father, those people that he has wronged. He is asking permission to heal, as if he is begging for reconcile to those he has wronged. He is serious about getting better, for himself and others. He is asking permission not for his drug addiction, but for those bad things that led to his addiction. |

| Eagles – Hotel California Lyrics

The Song's about excess and over consumption, to the point where you'd want to forget your troubles, as stated in "some dance to remember, some dance to forget." Dancing refers to using whatever gives you pleasure, like a drug, to the point of forgetting or minimizing the problems of daily life. I think Dancing to remember is a metaphor, for consuming the drug to the point of wanting it to be you're best high, so it can be a great experience, something to remember, but dancing to "forget" is ultimately why the user is consuming the drug, as an act to try to forget or minimize his problems for the time being. |

| The Neighbourhood – Sweater Weather Lyrics

I think its about a homeless couple in love. I live in California and it reminds me of Venice Beach, where there are homeless people. "Its too cold for you here" probably refers to the harsh realities of living on the streets. Thats probably why he wants her to put her hands in the holes of her sweater, so he can keep her warm, probably a reference for protection. |

It's about sticking to your guns (no pun intended). It's about sticking to what you believe to be right and honest until the end. |

| David Bowie – The Man Who Sold the World Lyrics

|
I think it's about a person who sold his own sense of right and wrong, who compromises his morals in exchange for monetary gain, selling your soul if you will. He is face to face with the man who sold the world (looking at himself in the mirror.) This is my interpretation. |

I percieve Corey is singing about a girl who he is obsessed with. She is beautiful and perfect in his eyes, yet she doesn't know he exists. This girl exists, yet the potential of being a relationship with this girl does not exist. "I can't make her real" refers to him wanting so bad to be in a relationship with her, yet she would never go out with him. |

This song helped me through a lot of tough times in my life. One of my favs from the entire album, along with Hunger Strike and Say Hello 2 Heaven. High school was pretty rough for me. I was a loner, parents were always fighting and threatening divorce (thankfully never came) and hung around the wrong crowd. I was on a wrong road. PJ and Soundgarden were also huge helps. |

This song is obviously anti-war. watch the video. The beginning of the video has "This is a song about peace. The video also shows every humvee, battleship, weapon, helo, bomber, being collected up in the sky. In "War is a Racket" by Marine Corps General Smedley Butler, it states "That is for all nations to get together and scrap every ship, every gun, every rifle, every tank, every war plane. Even this, if it were possible, would not be enough." |

This is war. This song is not glamourizing or advocating war. "this isn't what I planned, I wanted to be so much more. But this is war." It's anti-war. "Ill blow your fucking head off for my country." refers to just that, the killing that's involved in combat. That's all war does...kills. Nothing more. It is not noble and honorable to kill, especially based on lies and deceit. "The TV says that you were wrong" refers to the war being wrong...but that doesn't matter. He (the soldier) is still at war. He must perform his duties, even though he may be against it in principle. |

Zombie=walking dead soldiers. Killing, dying. This song is about the realities of war in that it only causes suffering, death, and misery for all. "In your head" could refer to a multitute of things, but I interpreted it as PTSD for soldiers and civilians caught up in the ravages of war. |
