Since this song is written so early almost like right when she got really famous, when she started touring a lot, she thought that "shit this is what I'll end up doing". Going to different places all the time, meeting awesome musicians all the time, drinking a lot, and after a while not remembering who these people were or where she was beacause she's been everywhere and doing everything possible... Sort of.. And having a lot of fun of course ;) But at this point, when Regina wrote this song she would take almost any gig, and now she's only performing on big stages in big towns cause she's so proffesional now and so wanted :D "I'm always up to fall down these stairs in the end" -This is what I'll end up doing. But no. You're too professional now Reg! |

Stretch marks. You know those little marks you get after being like really skinny and then getting pregnant and having a baby? She's lying on the floor and looking at them and counting them, and wondering if it was worth all this. She got pregnant very young and wanted to keep the baby and her boyfriend didn't so that's why he left her. And now when she's much older and wiser she wonders if it was worth it all.
Don't take the braille part to literally, it's the scars/marks on her stomach that she's looking at when she thinks back on her life.
It's sad that she isn't even proud over her son in any way. But I don't think that she regrets having him, I just think that she's lying there and wonder how it WOULD have been if she stayed with that man she once loved.
