I think this is about someone who is living behind a mask or disguise, but really just wants to be who they really are. "These ghosts I keep inside Shards of glass in my veins Release me from myself, release From my duality" This refers to having spent years being someone you're not and wanting to let your real self out, so that they don't have to live as two people. "I face this as a soldier would But useless is my war The innocence that smiles today Tomorrow will be lying" When she tries being herself, no one seems to care or believe that this is really her.She tries to keep her hopes up, but realizes it's probably all useless. "Who is that really dies, when all the people look at me? And I'm twisting my fingers in my hair While a mirror reflects me" She is feeling disappointed, either in herself for being able to be herrself or the people around her for not accepting her. | I think this song is about being friends with one of those people who think they're so popular and that everyone loves them so much that they end up destroying themselves and their realtionships with others (hence the "self-destruct sequence activated"). since you their friend, you try and fix the messes they leave behind. This person's personality makes you feel inferior to them, but you can't seem to figure whether you want to leave them not. | |
