| The Black Angels – Manipulation Lyrics | 13 years ago |

There are a number of errors in the lyrics here. I have: Red and green was the color of her dress Manipulation Pale blue was the color of her eyes Manipulation Yellow yellow, was her hair Orange sunburst, red-hot glare Manipulation Manipulation And you can feel her madness She will call you out watch out for her dark side And you'll soon figure out, so run on She's training you And she's got you, dancing (don't she?) Red and green was the color of the ground Manipulation Pale blue was the color of the steel Manipulation Yellow yellow was her hair Icy grey, was her glare Manipulation Manipulation And you can feel her madness See right through her smile Don't you turn your back, and And you'll soon figure out, so run on She's training you And she's got you, dancing Red and green was the color of the money in her hand Pale blue were the color of the flowers on his casket Yellow yellow was her hair Icy grey was her glare Manipulation Manipulation And you can see her sadness She will call you out Watch out for her dark side And you'll soon figure out, so run on She's training you And she's got you, dancing It sounds so weird when he says "dancing" that I'm entirely sure that's correct. Best I can come up with so far. "Training" could be "draining". To me, this song sounds like a warning to stay away from a seductive golddigger, but it doesn't appear to be a condemnation. More like a warning about a dangerous predator, that respects that predator for what it can do, while at the same time suggesting that she may have some psychological issues that cause her to act that way. |

That sounds reasonable. The billboards he's referring to could be those -God billboards, that sort of thing. Vernon Howell was the central figure in the Waco incident with the FBI. In that situation, a religious sect was prosecuted by the law, and ended up all dying. So, the narrator, God, and religous fanatics are all hiding in the grass together, from the lawmen, or perhaps secular society in general. |

| The Black Angels – Better Off Alone Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Sounds like he is sick of his lady (better off alone), so goes out and has a one night stand. When he's with her he realizes it was a mistake, and he should stick to his lady (better off with one). Then, he gets home, and after encountering his lady, decides maybe he was right in the first place (better off alone). | |
| The Black Angels – The Prodigal Sun Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I'm not really sure what this song is about. It seems mystical/religious in nature, and the title would appear to refer to the parable of the Prodigal Son. I looked that over, and there's not a ton of apparent connection, although the father does slaughter a calf, leading to second guessing. And there is a general theme of seperation and reuniting (..It'll be with you...) Here's what I have: {00:40} Ooh - na - na - na - na - na - na - na - na Ooh - n-no - no Ooh - no - no - no - hey You scare us yeah You welcome us And you motion us to move our mouths And we are Yes we are And you know I thought you put them there You free us, tell us we're deformed So we are Yes we are Oh no no no no When I breathe again I swear It’ll be with you Heya! Ooh - na - na - na - na - na - na - na - na Ooh - n-na - no Ooh - no - no - no-hey And you make us yell You cure us yes You kill the calf as we second guess The first draft The sun's too old (?) The darkness falls as nothing moves Your heartbeat slows it gets too cold So you sleep As we all sleep, alone And when I rise again I swear It’ll be with you Heya! |

| The Black Angels – Sniper at the Gates of Heaven Lyrics | 13 years ago |

So, {00:47} Where do you go when heaven calls you What do you do, who do you turn to How old will you be when they finally catch you Don't stop moving, they're right behind ya Where there's no one left on this Earth you know Who can save you kid so just wake up, wake up, wake up What is it like when hell surrounds you How hot does it get I think I've already felt it Is there any way out you better find one Where do you go, down down the book said Oh where theres no one here in this world of truths Who knows firsthand so just wake up, wake up, wake up Sounds to me like the worries of a sniper, who killes unsuspecting people that don't know he's there, about the possiblity of an afterlife, and what it might hold in store for him. This makes a lot of sense considering the two tracks before it are both about young men having to go to war and die, as is the last track. |

| The Black Angels – Black Angel Exit/Shine Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I hear "shining", not "shy men". That not only sounds more like it, it makes more sense (the sun is shining, it meets him in the morning) and matches the song title "Shine". So: {04:55} Wise men walk without seeing Fine men will do without speaking Shining, meet me in the morning Shining, meet me by the window Blind men see without seeing Well, I'm them, and now I'm changing Shining, meet me in the morning Shining, greet me by the window My friends teach me what they're learning Well, my friends hate it when I'm hurting Shining, meet me in the morning Shining, wake me in the morning Shining Shining Shining, meet me in the morning I live without thinking |
