"She couldn't change the story Couldn't tear the pages, burn the book" It was said that Anne was more intelligent then her sister Mary; but Mary was more beautiful. "Little girls grow up too fast" "Just a girl Never had a choice" "Had to leave her love behind" "To be a mother she must stay to be a wife She couldn't let her own life interfere Don't come near" When I watched The Other Boleyn Girl i found it totally depressing because i felt Anne Boleyn ( and her sister) had little say in their own lives ( and bodies). Early in 1523 there was a secret betrothal between Anne and Henry Percy, son of the 5th Earl of Northumberland. However, in January of 1524 Cardinal Thomas Wolsey broke the betrothal, Anne was sent back home to Hever Castle, and Percy was married to Lady Mary Talbot, to whom he had been betrothed since adolescence. "ask for nothing so she got her crown" "even queens can fall in love when they should hold on To their heart and never let it go Don't you know" Anne was the Queen of England from 1533 to 1536 "Died before her Time and yet Her song is sung everyday" She was beheaded. however, over the centuries, she has inspired or been mentioned in numerous artistic and cultural works. As a result, she has retained her hold on the popular imagination. Anne has been called "the most influential and important queen consort England has ever had", since she provided the occasion for Henry VIII to divorce Catherine of Aragon, and declare his independence from Rome.Anne was venerated as a martyr and heroine of the English Reformation. "Lady Anne, Lady Anne He's falling for you Lady Anne, Lady Anne You'll fall for him too Lady Anne, Lady Anne, Lady Anne" seems like a warning. |

I think this song could be about Anne Boleyn. Her family pressured her to become the kings mistress (because the queen couldn't bear him a male heir) so that there family could gain more money and power. However Henry VIII was initially attracted to her sister Mary. Henry VIII began his pursuit of Anne. She resisted his attempts to seduce her, refusing to become his mistress as her sister Mary had. It soon became the one absorbing object of Henry's desires to annul his marriage to Queen Catherine so he would be free to marry Anne.Henry's marriage to Anne, and her subsequent execution, made her a key figure in the political and religious upheaval that was the start of the English Reformation. She gave birth to the future Elizabeth I of England. To Henry's displeasure, however, she failed to produce a male heir. (however her sister has a male child with him, but it would never be allowed to rule England because it was a bastard child).Henry had Anne investigated for high treason in April 1536. On 2 May she was arrested and sent to the Tower of London, where she was tried before a jury of peers - which included Henry Percy, her former betrothed and her own uncle, Thomas Howard - and found guilty on 15 May. She was beheaded four days later. Modern historians view the charges against her, which included adultery and incest, as unconvincing.Jane Seymour became Henry's third wife 11 days after Anne's execution. | Emilie Autumn – Faces Like Mine Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think its about a person who thinks they already know her life story but they're really trying to get to know her just because of her 'pretty face'. The chorus i think is about how she sees life. I thinks its basically about her depression. She might look beautiful/ happy but on the inside its very dark place. | |

Hmm good point. I agree. This song very well could be about her. She had red hair. There is a song of and about Elizabethan times that goes like this Rose, Rose, Rose, Rose, Will I ever see thee wed? I will marry at they will, sire, At thy will. 2. Rose Variant B (two related verses) Rose, Rose, Rose Red, Will I ever see thee wed? I will marry at thy will, sire. At thy will. Rose, Rose, Rose White, Will you be my love tonight? I'll lay with thee at thy will, sire. At thy will. 3. Rose Variant C Rose, Rose, Rose, Rose, Wilt thou ever marry me? Ah yes sir, that I may - If thou will but stay. 3. All Night by the Rose in Middle English (with translation) (after 1300) (MS Rawlinson D. 913) Al nyght by the rose, rose, Al nyght by the rose I lay. Durste I noght the rose stele; And yet I bar the flour awey. All night by the rose, rose, All night by the rose I lay. Dared I not the rose to steal And yet I bore the flower away. 4. I am Rose in Middle English (with translation) (Camb. Univ. MS. Hh.6.11) I am Rose, wo is me, Sutere þat i suete þe; I wacs þat weylawey, cherles hand me þristet ay. I am Rose, woe is me. Sweeter than the sweet I be. I wax in grief and misery: A churlish hand has pluck-ed me. 5. "Bells" verses Ding dong, ding dong Wedding bells on an April morn Carve my name on a moss covered stone, On a moss covered stone. Ding dong, ding dong Funeral bells on a September morn, Rose, oh Rose, is dead and gone sire, Dead and gone. 6. Peace Round by Jeane Ritchie Oh, what a goodly thing If the children of the earth Could dwell together In peace. 7. I won't be my mother's Jack, And I won't be my father's Jill. I will be a fiddler's wife And fiddle, as I will. 8. The Gospel is Love (another verse learned as a Girl Scout) Love, love, love, love, The gospel in this world is love. Love thy neighbor as they brother, Love, love, love. |
