Elderling I was only reading peoples' interpretations of this song and gathering perspective but I came across several of your comments and I find it so distasteful I had to make an account just to release my anger at you. Your comments make it seem as if you've got some grudge against being young however I will look past that. In MY opinion this song may be about youthful abandonment to a certain extent but you were already influenced by the video of the girl with the apple. This was how the song was ACTUALLY written: How did you write "We Are Young"? The lyrics came after my worst drinking night of all time. Have you ever been kicked out of a cab for puking all over the place? I have. The cabbie was demanding all this money, and all I could do was stand on the corner with my head against the wall. It took me another day before I was a functioning adult and could actually write down the verses. To me the song is about friendship to an extent whereby he ends with "So if by the time the bar closes And you feel like falling down I'll carry you home tonight" He did not sound the least bit seductive to me but sounded more as a true friend willing to help his friend under the same circumstance so please brainwash that prejudiced mind of yours and open it to accept youths nowadays. |
