| The Who – Baba O'Riley Lyrics | 13 years ago |

The song was written long before I was born. I first heard it on when I saw a Pearl Jam DVD being played in a shop. I went home thinking it was a new Pearl Jam song but discovered it belonged to The Who. For years I wondered what the song was about. I always suspected the chorus was a reference to young lives lost in war. The reference to North Vietnam and Vietnam War made early in the comments makes the most sense to me. Love this song. Always the first one added to a new playlist. |

| Eurythmics – 17 Again Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I heard this song in a shop last week. I went home and searched feverishly for it. It's the only eurythmics song I have but I'm sure I'll download more as I get to know them. I actually interpret this song differently to those who have already commented. I don't think it's about choices during our youth. The song is taking a dig at the entertainment industry. Yay though we venture through The Valley of the stars You and all your jewelry And my bleeding heart Stars - Celebrities We should’ve jumped out Of that airplane after all Flying skyways overhead It wasn’t hard to fall The writer is questioning whether it was worth it and say that popularity can disappear as easy as it comes. Times might break you God forsake you Leave you burned and bruised Innocence will teach you What it feels like to be used A reference to managers who use your fame to their advantage. All those fake celebrities And all those viscous queens All the stupid papers And the stupid magazines A dig at publicity. And it feels like I’m 17 Again Feels like I’m 17 Again I read this in conjunction with the rest of the lyrics. The writer is obviously experienced enough now not to get caught up in the pitfalls of the entertainment industry. She's free of pressures and can just enjoys music like she did before she was famous. |
