| Placebo – A Million Little Pieces Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| In my opinion issues that occurred before the relationship are dragging him down and he not only knows it's ending the relationship, but he knows she/he knows. It's a kind of "I really wanted this to work, but we both know why it won't." | |

I never had a concrete view on this song for it's meaning until I read InvaderGIR's thoughts.(2 below) I pretty much agree with him. I love how Placebo's songs are so diverse you can pretty much turn them into anything with your imagination despite most of them originally being about drugs. The divestity of Placebo never ceases to amaze me. |

I think this is to do with splitting from someone. I think the lyric "Everytime I rise, I see you falling." is to do with getting over it, getting past the hurt and when in this time they're falling into the distance, into the past, into history." I think the "If you deny this." was them not giving the relationship a chance, not talking it through etc. and sort of denying his expected natural human reactions and thus them "denying god" "It's in your reach, concentrate." I think could either mean finally getting over it or a message to the ex that if they really thought about it, they'd know that splitting wasn't what they really wanted and that he's there when/if they realise it. |

I think it's all to do with himself. He's looking back and remembering the mistakes he's made with a relationship. The "can't stop growing old" is possibly why he's reflecting on it, as he didn't realise it then. In the moment kind of thing. I never used to think that, I always used to think he was thinking of a woman. But now, it's pretty obvious that it's himself that he's talking/singing about. |

My view is that it's a reflection on a relationship that's still going but both know it's about to end, and he's thinking about the potential it had that was never realised. I think the the "narcolosepy" is basically his wishes, "dreams" that it had worked. I think the "you bet it keep it in check or you'll end up a wreck and you'll never wake up" is a warning to his partner that if they don't change they'll never find what they're looking for, but he's accepted that whatever, it won't be with him. Beautiful song. |
