| Aztec Camera – Good Morning Britain Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| @[CultureShock2:9515] the line "Your sons are leaving home Neil." - I think it's a reference to Neil Kinnock, the Leader of the Labour Party at the time (and also Welsh) | |

| The Housemartins – Think For a Minute! Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
A damning tale of the sadness and loneliness of modern life compared to the community-based life of just 30 years ago. Kids playing on the street? Talking and engaging with your neighbours and people close by? Bah - best off shutting yourself away and feel superior with the latest purchases on your flashy car, tv, and holiday etc! |

Another apt song given what is currently happening - and occurred - with the British tabloid press of late and the Leveson inquiry. Such a shame the majority of the press in the UK are right wing - and so close with the Govt and authorities you can smell the collusion,law-breaking and agenda-setting between the three rotten establishments - to the point where they'll all probably get away it... |

I think of it as about being born out of time - in an era where capitalism is seen and portrayed as the only way, and there is currently no other viable option for anyone thinking along different lines - even the now liberal left (so far removed from it's purpose of years ago). Great tune - love the demo/acoustic version too. |

| The Housemartins – Build Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
^ strange that the traditional terraced houses have stood the test of time whilst the new-builds of the 60's have all but vanished or been condemned. I'd rather live in a street of terraced houses in a community than a 60's skyscraper. Just one of many poignant songs that'll stand the test of time (unlike the 60's newbuilds) - from the 4th best band in Hull ;) |

| The Specials – Ghost Town Lyrics | 13 years ago |

History repeats itself under the Tories once again - mass unemployment amongst the young with little hope of escaping poverty for a decent life - demonised, miunderstood and misrepresented by the media. It's like little has changed in 30 years - even the great songs like this remain. |

| Fine Young Cannibals – Blue Lyrics | 13 years ago |

It's poignant that so many songs from the 80's can be applied to what is happening right now with the Tories back in Govt. Pop from the 80's often gets a bad name - but songs like these, and their message - stand the test of time. Well in FYC :) |
