The Alan Parsons Project – Days Are Numbers (The Traveller) Lyrics 13 years ago
I won't deny that the song speaks about the sensless of the modern style of life but in my opinion there are many details that relate to the early days of travel and exploration. "Watch the stars", "days are numbers" and "the traveller awaits the morning tide". The early sea explorers like Columbus or Magallanes had to count days and wath the stars with their astrolabes, of course the best time for depart was always the morning tide and they really didn't have a clue of what was on the other side "He doesn't know what's on the other side" the legends then said that there were dragons or gigantic cascades so, why did they go?
But something deep inside of him
Keeps telling him to go
He hasn't found a reason to say no
But the song speaks also about the travels that the humanity will do, lead by travellers like the early explorers.

Remember
Days are numbers
Count the stars
We can only go so far
