This is a lovely song with a great pace. There is always more to decode in his songs, which is what I love about Cass McCombs. when a LEITMOTIF impodes... I'll give him one credit, though. He has mastered all his modes. And what about the lion? Did he come disguised as a Medici? C'mon get literate! ** Also, Cass weaves in a clever dig at... his ex-wife: See You Next Tuesday = C. U. N. T. All very English, too, even down to the use of "slag" for slut. Well, his ex-wife, I assume... and make an ASS out of U and ME. Fun stuff. Great song. Listen to "Lionkiller" and follow it up with "Lionkiller Got Married." Find some more insight into the blurring between the narrator and the songwriter himself. |
