As I write, the song writers to the "Paralyzed" lyric is incorrect. Peter Anders Svensson and Nina Persson of The Cardigans had nothing to do with the song sung by The Legendary Stardust Cowboy. About the only thing they have in common is that both artists prefer their names to start with a "The." What a shame that this is listed incorrectly because in my personal opinion this is the greatest song EVER written! There is no need to write any more songs as this song pretty much says it all. And don't believe that "unintelligible" lyric posted. This is a Rorschach test people! That is what makes this song the "greaterest" song ever. I must quibble, however, because "unintelligible" means you can't understand anything, but I bet that 99 out of 100 people will clearly hear the words Caroline. That's right, even people hard of hearing will get that insidious word planted in their heads and won't be able to think of anything else -- hence the meaning of the song called "paralyzed." |

| A cryptic riddle: I believe in this lyric, Lydia Lunch is extolling the non-virtues of polyester, which at the time had become a rampant problem in fashion and here-to-forth threatened other more breathable fabrics. The first line is the dead give away because polyester can't breathe! The rest of the first verse drives home just how uncomfortable this fabric is. My personal favorite line in the first verse is about Sharon Tate. Of course, Tate was married to famed director Roman Polanski and she was killed by Charles Manson's cult. I believe this line means that mindless people are taking their polyester suits and dresses out as show pieces for other mindless people to see while the cloth is ripped to shreds and treated badly. The last verse is dedicated to contextualizing polyester's place in society and concluding that, unfortunately, polyester will not go away. You can't kill it. Nice riddle! | |
