I know to each person the lyrics will resonate differently and mean different things, but I listen to this song (besides almost ever day because I love it) especially when nothing is working out in life, and I'm stuck in a rut, and everyone is mean, and nothing goes my way, and I'm struggling against the current, but it only pulls me in faster... so this song is always my breath of fresh air, the voice that tells me to relax, take a step back, stop fighting and realize that if I struggle a little less, everything is already there, in my hands, I just have to clear my view from all the hindrances, and things will get back to normal. So this song, to me, brings the equilibrium in life back. And like Heimdall mentioned, 'Undo' has a similar vibe, except 'It's in our hands' is more of a "Don't worry, be happy" :) Sorry for the UBER long run-on sentence haha I don't rule out the possibility of this song being about consumerism, or global warming, or God and such, but I've noticed that Bjork often writes just about life and its wonders, feelings, new experiences, and how to embrace them. |
