I think this is about how she grew up too fast and she's had enough of her life of fame. "don't let the water bring you down" don't let the wave of depression that flood over you weigh you down "and if i cried unto my mother, she wasn't there for me" her mother put herself before her daughter and her needs. "broken lines across my mirror show my face all red and bruised" i think thi is how she views herself when she looks in the mirror. The broken, insecure, arguably messed up girl who has grown up too fast. "and all my friends are enemies: her friends have spoken to the press and released embarrassing photos of her when she was younger without her permission. this is how i interpret the song: "hit me like a man" surprise me and keep an element of mystery in the relationship like a man. "love me like a woman" but be sensitive at times and touch me gently like a woman. "some will give you pain, some will give you pleasure" and "some will give you hell, some will give you heaven" sometimes she likes it rough and sometimes more slow and gentle. You usually get either or, but she wants both from one relationship. it could also mean that the relationship has its ups and downs. "it's a version of perversion that is only for the lucky people" I actually think this mean that you're lucky if you can understand the meaning of this song...oh, the irony. "don't you run away from me, i will run away from you" she will end the realtionship before he does. This possibly presents the idea of gender role reversal, that she will love him like a man and he will love her like a woman. |
