I think this song is very symbolic with its place in the album as a whole. Its interesting how the album starts with the songs being all anger at a girl and talks about how he tried so hard but felt betrayed. in some songs he shows worry about the girl like like in "When you see my friends" and there is also songs about pleading for the girl. the album takes a turn at "everythings an illusion" when romantic relationships are set apart and he sings about his lost friend. the album picks back up with relationships with this song right here but instead of anger he shows remorse and treats it like a death but its a relationship. this song is so one of a kind on the album because its full of sadness like he has given in and given up on a relationship and is no longer mad about the relationship. the last song "happy endings are stories that haven't ended yet" shows acceptance to the mistakes made. this is just my interpretation to the album and where this song fits in. i could be wrong. please comment and tell me what you think. |

this song is the perfect way to kick off the album. the line "Stand still and listen to the soundtrack (our soundtrack) I'll tell you how I took one straight through the heart And it's not easy to talk about (don't talk about)" ^that really sets up the whole album as almost a concept album but not in the way of telling a story in chronological order but gives the whole album a general sense of being all about a period of time, one subject, and short stories that need to be told. |

so this guy likes this girl a lot, but she-the girl-does not think he is the right kind of guy for her. She thinks he follows all the rules and as the song says she wants him to show passion implying that he is boring and needs to let loose. When she tells him this-what she wants-he goes out and and breaks the rules and claims that he is not who she thinks he is. i dont know if this is what it really is about. that is just how i put it together in my head and relate it to my life. |
