I always interpreted as Josie being the younger girl's [You know I like my girls a little bit older] boyfriend, SHE wants to cheat on Josie with the singer. Perhaps Josie and Josie's girl had a fight... The song is an internal struggle for the singer. Does he succumb to Josie's girlfriend's demands or does he remain morally sound?" [Try to stop my hands from shaking But something in my mind's not making sense] Perhaps they (the singer and Josie's girl) used to date?: [It's been a while since we were all alone But I can't hide the way I'm feeling] In the end asks her to leave [As you're leaving please would you close the door?] and explains that cheating is wrong. [And don't forget what I told you] She must tell him something like, "Josie will never find out." and he responds with "[Just 'cause you're right that don't mean I'm wrong]" I also think Josie's a bit of a jerk, for why would she cheat on Josie otherwise and why is she crying on the singer's shoulder? [Another shoulder to cry upon] |

The song is about lead guitarist Ben Harper's departure from the band in 2005. In 2005, Harper went with the other band members to Los Angeles while Key and Mosely moved to New York City to create new material for their next album. During the following months tensions arose between the band members, mostly after Harper was arrested on May 14 for suspicion of DUI. In an interview with MTV News he said that he was finished with writing the guitar tracks for the album and that he was leaving the band. He was replaced by Ryan Mendez from the band Staring Back. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Harper_(Yellowcard_and_HeyMike!) |
