One of many favorites from Depeche/Gahan. Chards, I think your synopsis is right on. As a Christian myself, I often struggle with feeling frustrated at the often cryptic way God seems to communicate. It leaves me to decipher what I'm thinking & feeling, wondering if it's God or just "in my head." I also do not think Dave is disavowing God, but rather is expressing frustration at the downward spiral in & around many of us. "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" - Mark 9:24 Either way... great song! |
