Gonna go ahead and take a stab at this one. Wasn't very keen on this song when I first heard it but it's really grown on me. Kind of a strange one in the way Rou has written the lyrics because it's as if he's writing it from his own perspective mainly and the one verse "We will torture, we will slaughter in your name..", where I think he's trying to say that 99% of humans are happy to go along with what big companies and leaders are telling us to do. I reckon the message is that all of these leaders and rulers (tyrants) aren't remembering history when they are attempting to gain power and will eventually be defeated and their 'empires will fall'. Rou is pretty much saying they do nothing to help push the world towards sustainability and progression, and we should oppose them and attempt to bring them down before the harm Earth and society to a point where we can't fix it. I've watched the Step Up video they put up on the website about the purpose behind their whole organization and they pretty much state he hates all these big name companies that are beginning to rule us and take over the world with ignorance to the mess they are putting the whole human population in. Pretty much they're fucking us over with their money and power, but that they will eventually crumble as history states and we should take the opportunity to build something better. Actually kinda clever that this song leads into Constellations which actually talks about realizing that we're not yet doomed and we can still do something if we really want to. |
