I just can't get the thought of it being about a suicide out of my head. "Tonight, where do we go from here? The road to Ruby Falls has reached the end." - There doesn't seem to be much left to live for, nothing left to do, nowhere left to go. To kill yourself and spill blood would mean you finally reached the destination, Ruby Falls. The road being your life long journey having reached its end. "And now we're digging in the sand. They're promising that help is on the way." - Digging in the sand makes me think when people are stranded on an island and how they dig SOS or HELP in the sand or burn a fire to call attention, a cry for help to anyone who might be passing by to lend a hand and save them. When someone wants to kill their-self, everyone usually tells them help is on the way or things will be ok, but sometimes the help they need never comes, and then they kill themselves. "Love, confession number one; Impossible and sorry. And judge, can you look the other way? Some things are best unsaid." - Perhaps this person is in love with the one wanting to commit suicide, and has felt like they failed in this impossible situation of their love wanting to leave this world and are sorry they couldn't do anything enough to have helped them. Now the guilt is upon them that they wanted to end their life. "And now where can we go from here? When all the morning birds have gone away? Two wrongs won't navigate tonight. The afterlife is all in the end. The afterlife is ours in the end." - Lifes lost it's joy, hence all the mornings birds have gone away. With this lack of joy and suicidal nature in one or both of the lovers involved it adds a lot of tension to whats going on, a lot of depression and fighting, making two wrongs going nowhere and potentially provoking a death in one or both of them. "The afterlife is ours in the end." "Love, don't look me in the eye. Just wash it all down. And judge, can you let me run away we're outta here, straight outta here." - The pain is too deep and there needs to be an escape whether it be running away from the issues by foot or in death. "Somewhere down buried in the sand two birds give out a song, and all of Ruby Falls is singin' along." - And this could be the end of the two lovers, singing out a sad song buried in death. |
