To me, Gonzalez is speaking from the mind of Steve McQueen, the famous actor who died at a relatively early age allegedly from exposure to asbestos. In the song, Steve McQueen, after learning that his death is imminent from trained doctors -- and perhaps after accepting that an unlicensed doctor he sought out in Mexico cannot cure him -- is ready to face death head on. He's ready for his next adventure as his life was full of them. |
