God doesn't tell us to hate the devil, because he is already condemned, it'd be pointless to. I'm positive that the lyricist was trying to give life to a lifeless thing so that it would make us think and look things up, maybe even to attract non-believers who would be hearing the word without their know-how. That way it still sounds cool, but you're still getting a good message.

The "I" he uses in this song is just the personification of "The cry for the falling of time". In other words, the 'one to hate' is not a person. It's a "Figure for the falling of time". The war-like lyrics so prevelent throughout this song is most likely metaphorical, not a literal war with "storms of lead" and "weapons washed in blood", but instead a metaphorical war that will come with the ending of time, when the Lord comes back and proves to the world that he is the way, truth, and light. This entire song is like a letter from "the cry for the falling of time" to the "Advocates of Hell" saying basically that the time for your deceptive reign is reaching it's end, and when that end comes, there will be no opposition. The last four lines I actually had help interpreting because they stumped me, but in the end we interpreted them to mean that we were all born in sin, but we were all given the knowledge of good and evil. If this helped you to understand this amazingly clever song even just a little, then I'm glad. God Bless, and if you feel like I was wrong in some way, or if you have something to add, please do.
