| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – Dazzle Ships (Parts II, III, & VII) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| These songs are about the 'dazzle' camouflage that was painted on to ships during World War One, which was specifically designed to try to help ships avoid U-Boat attacks. | |
| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – The Pacific Age Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This sound is about the rise of the economies on the Pacific rim - honestly! | |
| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – Stanlow Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Definitely about the oil refinery, Andy Mc once told me when chatting to him after a gig. It's quite a site, enough to provoke or inspire the tune. | |
| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – Sealand Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Just watched an article on BBC sport about the national team of Sealand, which led me to this page... I recall chatting to Andy McCluskey after a gig many years ago, and asking him about the meaning of a couple of songs - he confirmed that Stanlow is indeed about the oil refinery, but categorically said that Sealand was NOT about the military base in North Wales. He didn't say what the song is about, but I would go with your guess about the sea fort. |
