| This song is about love, obviously. The euphoria felt in someone who is in love and they can see it in one another's eyes. Hesitation can come up in the start or maybe the occasional "Lets go slow". But sometimes, you just cant help falling for that person, hence the "We tried so hard to understand and reason, but in that one moment, I gave my heart away". And in that moment, the following breath is amazing. "Perfect", almost. You're so high that it can feel like you're flying. "..where my mind lay beside me, all I know is what had overtaken me. With no reason, I am comforted by inability to understand". The moment you know you're in love, you don't think with your mind. You think with your heart. You feel like your going crazy because you cant think straight sometimes. But the inability to understand the concept of love can be comforting because love isn't meant to be comprehended, its meant to be felt. It feels like a dream and sometimes you feel like pinching yourself to make sure that its not a dream. "When I wake from this dream, will your smile still open my heart and leave me transparent?". When you come back to earth from that feeling, you hope that that person is still there and that the feeling is real. I suggest the best way to understand this song is to be in love when you hear it. | |

| This song is incredible, in my opinion. Definitely one of my favorites from AILD. Its got so much emotion and you can feel it in the song and especially in the vocals. I dare you to tell me you didn't get chills after the inhaled "PAAAAAAAAAAIN!!!" scream. | |

| The message I get from this song is pretty intense. Picture a volatile relationship. One where it's very hot and cold. "The contingencies of another day unravel my senses". You hope for the best and the contingency of finally being able to be happy with the one you love has your hopes and feelings going crazy. However, the distance that ends up coming between 2 people can be pretty dark and lonely. It can be heartbreaking. The hope you had for that person and the relationship starts to slowly deteriorate by that persons' absence. "We WILL make it" turns to "We CAN make it" and then eventually, it can turn into "Can we make it?". But, the unintentional pain that someone brings to another in such a relationship can be seen as that person's expression of love. That person can be so in love with that person that they fear hurting them so they push that person away. Ironically, the distance itself hurts more than any potential pain felt along the way if there wasn't any pushing. So behind the pain, there is love. | |
