T'pau – Heart And Soul Lyrics 1 year ago
Pathetic girl who doesn’t realize her love interest is not that into her. She is probably way less attractive than him. She’s practically a stalker, with no self esteem. He probably thinks she looks like a horror film spooky doll. She needs to find someone as creepy looking as her. What a waste of her energy.

That said, the song mix itself was unique, although the video was low quality and blurry.

He should have gotten a Restraining a
Order. Fatal Attraction (except she wasn’t attractive).

Even if she WAS attractive, her desperation would have turned any man off. The man should do the pursuing.

Eagles – Wasted Time Lyrics 3 years ago
He says she “can’t hold her man, yet he alludes to the fact that he is worried all HIS past relationships (including the one with her) ended, and he is likewise worried it has all been wastes time. So apparently he “can’t hold his woman” either.

Evidently they were married in the past, and since their divorce, he has witnessed her go through one bad relationship after another (and he has done the same).

He acts like she simply MUST BE BEDDED DOWN WITH SOMEONE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT with the words “you don’t care much for a stranger’s touch” but you can’t hold your man, so you’re out on the street again (sleeping around looking for true love). It’s as if she has NO CHOICE but to sleep around with strangers because she is broken up with someone again. As IF that’s just “normal” and the ONLY way to find love: GIVING IT UP BEFORE MARRIAGE.

Maybe if she read the Bible and obeyed God and waited to have sex until AFTER marriage, she could get a commitment from someone. But most people deem themselves “too smart” for God’s laws, so the next thing you know they are 45 and burnt out and on the streets ... AGAIN. Maybe try it God’s way for once...

Rickie Lee Jones – Chuck E's in Love Lyrics 3 years ago
What does “P.I.P.” mean? I checked Wikipedia and the Urban Dictionary, and nothing makes sense.

What is “The Meter”? Was it a pool hall, or a bar, in Los Angeles or Denver, or something?

I just wanted to point out something re the reference to "whores." The label is easily and bluntly stated in the song, yet there is no attempt to label HIMSELF even as the admitted PATRON of said whores (such as "whoremonger"). And he only admits to the downplayed description of "taking some comfort there," but I'm sure he didn't just talk about his problems and get a pat on the shoulder. And I wonder why patronizing a whore would make him feel better about being a fighter in life?

Hall and Oates – Maneater Lyrics 11 years ago
This is a song about the rare (but more prevalent nowadays) female who used men for money and moved on without regard to ethics or consideration for the man's feelings. Back when this was written, this type of female wasn't the norm, hence the warning about the "maneater." However, during that same time period, MEN who behaved this way WERE the norm, but nobody called them "womaneaters," they were just guys. The only difference was instead of using women for MONEY and moving on, they used women for sex and moved on. They may have been sitting with you, but their eyes were on the door for a girl who was cuter than you that they could dump you for. But there was no need to write a SONG about it because it was very COMMON, and still is. It's just that NOW, more women are using men in return (but in different ways and for different reasons). But the lack of empathy and ethics is still the same either way. You could call the women "gold-diggers," and you could call the men "sex-diggers." They are both wrong.

Joni Mitchell – Coyote Lyrics 12 years ago
I think the song is about how Joni recognizes a similar attitude in the Coyote that she used to have herself about love. She knows the Coyote has a "woman at home," and it's evidently on a ranch as mentioned early in the song, but he is on a journey away from home now where he is sleeping around a lot, including with her, and that it's because he hasn't dealt with his relationship at home correctly, and thus is out trying to prove something to himself on the road with other women due to his ego. That's why she says, "Either he's going to have to stand and fight, Or take off out of here, I tried to run away myself, To run away and wrestle with my ego." He is going to have to "stand and fight" with his ego and return to his relationship at home and conduct himself with full integrity toward his woman at home, rather than "run away" and get his nose out of joint due to his ego and go off on the road with other woman to prove something. She isn't judging him about his current state, having been there herself in the past, but shows him his two choices: fight for his relationship at home by working on his ego, or keep running away from the fact that he hasn't dealt with his ego by staying on the road and sleeping around (in which case he will be a different kind of "prisoner" than he (wrongly) deemed himself at home).
