The song is not about child abuse. The song is about a father who had a child out of wedlock but is now married - with wife and new child. He sings to the new child about his other child he cannot protect.
"never never never again" he sings he'd never settle down and he'd never have children again just be a bachelor but like a moth to a flame he falls for a girl... but he breaks up with her too or rather divorces this time (or maybe she dies) and sings he did his best for her. And that she never knew of his first child from out of wedlock. |
