This song for me is about being sick and tired of being a junkie. When you are a junkie who is using you feel like you are a joke and there is nothing left inside, you tell lies and try hide who you really are. Your "fiend" friends are always hanging around to see what stuff you have and what they can get from you, it's the same cycle everyday, nothing new, look for drugs and use, that's it. If you can just "get a little more" you can push away any emotion or problem and pretend that everything doesn't exist except the world you have created in your mind. It's hard to smile and pretend you are fine in this state of mind. I'm still pissed off that he's dead all these years later. Blind Melon speaks to my soul and it makes me sad that he is gone. |

I feel this song is about failed and new attempts at sobriety. Being a junkie who is new to recovery, this song, as well as "Change," sums up everything that I'm thinking and feeling at this point. It's a tough battle that not everyone can overcome. All these years later I'm still angry that he is dead. Certain music speaks to your soul, and Blind Melon has always been one of those bands for me. |
