| I'd say equal. I never thought I'd find a band as good as BB, but when I was introduced to EB I was thoroughly astounded. The fact that they're on par is saying quite a lot | |

I feel like I've been in this situation before, to me this song interprets what happened then. When we met it honestly felt like I'd known her for years, I was immediately comfortable around her and I could tell she was comfortable around me too. We became very close friends in just a few short weeks, but I made it clear to her that I wasn't about to be friend-zoned. Even so, even when we were so compatible and still really close, she wouldn't fall for me in that way. What this song says about this: I'm broken in a number of ways, and she has her demons too ("We're both broken in our own little way") and that increases our compatibility ("Broken so we fit together just right"). It was almost like the fact that I was broken eclipsed, in my eyes at least, the fact that she was broken as well, thus making me indifferent to her flaws ("I saw the black inside your eyes//and saw they we're eclipsed by mine"). We have talked about our past and future, and I could see myself being a part of that ("we talk about the future and our past lives//i know i loved you then, i know i'd love you know//i know i'll love you then...i know i love you now"). When he says that you can't have everything you want when you want it, and then that he will be everything she wants when she wants it, to me that says that she doesn't want the answer to everything, even as perfect as that sounds. Which sadly might be my case too. After all I guess it is slightly more difficult to keep things interesting when the answer is already known right? He goes on to say ("if you fall for it//if it should it'll come around again") to me meaning that if everything he wanted with her did come to fruition it would be after some time away from each other, a second meeting, and a second start to a new relationship, which again I could foresee happening in my case. What scares me though is the very last line, every time I hear it I get goosebumps. ("When our hearts meet, will we make it then//and will we even notice, that they are eclipsed"). To me, what this says that when things finally do line up, and we have a shot and take it, maybe what we forgot to overlook is that we are too alike in some regards, effectively eclipsing or canceling some of each other's finer qualities out. That wouldn't make for a very good future for anyone, and in the end if we overlooked that fact it might all end in disaster. But again, this is my interpretation based on my life and past experiences. It might be different for everyone else! |
