| Ingrid Michaelson – How We Love Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I can't believe more people haven't commented on this song! Just because it's not upbeat... I think it means that we love things when they're good to us, but as soon as they're bad we don't feel quite as fondly towards them. And as far as love itself, we fear falling back into it once we've been hurt. So we just sit alone, stoic, never reaching out. I really like this stanza: "So he turned on the radio, And he went to a picture show. Tried to find someone else who knows, All the hurt that a heart can hold." (although, I thought it was, "..he turned to the radio.."? Maybe not.) It reminds me of what I do. When I'm feeling particularly moody, I'll look to some sort of art (whether that's visual...or a movie or music!), trying to find a song that speaks to how I'm feeling and I can relate to. Kind of like with this song. Oh and---"...And sat in silence till the world fell numb." AND "...He felt a sharpness deep inside. The kind of ache that can't be satisfied." I love Ingrid Michaelson! Not only is she a musician, but an artist and writer. The perfect qualities. |
