This song makes me think of what my dog would sing to me, if he could. You're such a mystery, I just want to stand and stare. Nibble on your ear, and smell the ocean in your hair. [My dog loves going to the dog beach. He also stares at me the whole way there.] I know you damage me, you leave me tangled in a knot. But when you reappear, I see neptunian blues that eyes forgot. [He doesn't like to be separated from me (we currently live apart), but when I'm home to visit he remembers what it was like to see me.] Still I only feel alive when the VU is flashing, alarms going off in my head. I want to grab you and just kiss you maybe I should sit down, no sense of cashing us now. [VU = volume unit. We always listen to music on the way there, which he seems to like. We also have a problem with him trying to kiss me while I'm driving, which results in me telling him to sit down.] Yeah I'll only feel alright when the VU is flashing and bombs going off in my head. I want to grab you or just scream at you no icing me down, the party's crashing us now. [ (Same as before, but screaming = barking, and icing him down = calming him down.] Oh well we made love like a pair of black wizards. You freed me from the past, you fucked the suburbs out of me. [Black wizards could symbolize our unique/magical bond. The second line refers to the fact that I rescued him from a kill shelter.] Oh well those ugly days that made us so sick. They are just fossils now, we've learned the elevating trick. [Times have changed for us both in a positive way. We now know the trick to "elevating" or being happy.] |
