I agree with you here and there were very disapointed Marina fans. However when I first herd this song I was like 'hmm a bit too dancey for me' and then when I herd it again I loved it. And it's not because I didn't like it at first because this isn't Marina, I didn't like it because I've herd tons of songs like this and it was getting boring. But then when I actually got what she was trying to do I was like ohhhhhhhhh. But still this song is amazing and so are the lyrics which made me even more in love with this song. I have a feeling that 2012 is going to be Marina's year :) |

This song may be about philosophers but I also think it may be about a past relationship she was in. Maybe she was in a relationship where he would also lie to her and maybe cheat on her which may be why he's calling him a philosopher. "And the way you preach for peace It sounds like vomit to my ears" Maybe he's trying to be forgiven but she's had enough of it and it sounds like "vomit to my ears". "Everybody knows they're cleaner than your lips" He lies a lot, obviously. "I'm not easy to defeat" He can't fool her with his lies. "Don't cheat me, don't you cheat me Don't you think you can fucking lie to me Yeah..." This is a very angry moment in the song and the music gets really heavy when she sings this bit. Maybe he had cheated on her and she's still very bitter and angry about it. Or it could be about philosophers. But I can't help but feel this song has a deeper meaning to it. But this song is amazing and I love it. It's quite heavier then her other stuff but it's still amazing. :) |

I loooooooove this song so much, Marina is such an amazing song writer it's unreal. Some people think this song is about her wanting to die and what not but apparantly she said once in an interview that this song was about her starting over again. So I'm guessing this song relates to Electra Heart which is probably why it's on the next upcoming album. Good luck Marina, I know you'll do amazingly well in your next album :D |

| I think oliviauncensored has basically given us the meaning. But I really want to say how much I love this song! I havn't heard all of Electra Heart yet and to be honest I don't want to until it comes out because I want the other songs to be a superise (I sound like such a child, I know). But the song's I've heard from there so far are AMAZING. There's not one where I want to change it. But this has to be my favourite song I've heard so far from there. Can't wait till 30th April! | |

Apparantly she wrote this song because her ex-boyfriend always called her a primadonna. Love this song soooooooooo much I always keep repeating and if I'm not listening to it then I'll just start singing it quitetly to myself. Trolol sad. I think what Marina is trying to say that everyone in the 'celebrity world' or anyone who wants to get into that world have to be one way and follow that way to stay on top. "White white teeth, dark dark skin Long blond hair, Botox grin This is what you need to be 'Cause this what is real beauty" I think there is a deeper meaning to these lyrics then explaining how you have to look. Although the look is fake she could be talking about your personality. Covering yourself with fakeness to fit in. Never being yourself because if you are you'll never fit in. "Oh life's a cat walk, life is tough" Every single second of your life is a show. You have to look your best and never letting yourself go (hey that rhymed lol). "Why don't you try to shout out loud That personal faults are quite allowed It's pudding proof that we are real And she's a hamster on their wheel" If we all know that none of us can be perfect, why don't we tell the world? Instead of pretending that we are all robot's and we are all perfect and we have to all think and act the same. As for the hamster bit I think it's about this celebrity trying to keep up with fashion and the industry. I also think this song could also be talking about society in general. How we are trying to keep up with fashion and look our best and how we put on a show for people but that's not who we are really. I think this is an awesome song by Marina and I think the lyrics and amazing and really true. |
