Radical Face – Homesick Lyrics 13 years ago
I thought all of the songs on this album (Ghost) were about family/home, right?
So maybe this song isn't about a girlfriend but a family member.

I think a nice idea is a son or daughter that came of age then left home.

"I left my home on hollow bones," Birds have pneumatized (or hollow) bones that allow them to fly, giving the image of the person taking flight and leaving home. But they didn't have the experience they wanted -- they missed home (homesick) and wished to return.

"But you're not the same, you died along the way," The mother of course would miss them desperately, maybe she wouldn't die but she would be different, changed by the events. The "real" her died, as did the "real" son/daughter ("Now we're ghosts" (Sidenote: Any ideas about the "praying for winter"?)

"Well, I found a wheel that squeaks and squeals,
And I left it on your doorstep." I would imagine them sending period postcards home, maybe with souvenirs, represented by this line.

Other lines reinforce this story too, but I'm supposed to be doing homework so I can't waste any more time here.

Lovely song, one of my favourites by Radical Face.
