Arcade Fire – Modern Man Lyrics 13 years ago
Modernity is widely held to be the promotion of an objective search for truth. Postmodernity, on the other hand, is the rejection of this and the positing of a relativistic or consensus stance on truth.

Arcade Fire – We Used to Wait Lyrics 13 years ago
The outro "Now we're screaming/Sing the chorus again" refers to the chorus in the same song, when he used to wait. At the transition to adulthood he wants a lover for whom he waited in adolescence.

When he says "sometimes it never came," he refers to past loves that changed and didn't work out; hence, "moving through the pain" leftover from them. And that waiting for a love/lover is the "something so small [that] can keep [one] alive." Because the pure thing he hopes "can last" is love RESERVED for a FUTURE lover.

I must say this album is potent for me now at 22, especially since the lyricist and I seem to share the same middle-class, american culture, which makes the transition a nightmare for anyone introverted (and not well connected socially). Love could really get me through this.
