| He doesn't kill her intentionally, though. That's what he was trying to avoid. | |

Or the book. The book matches it better. There's nothing that signals killing or rape her. In the book, he did not want to kill or rape her. The thought of taking advantage of a woman in that way disgusted him and when he captured her, he often brought that up saying that he was a better man because he didn't do such things. |

OH, gee, let me be like the (majority) rest of you in the comments. Like omg im 14 (16) and i kno this song cos i cut. it meens he cuts cos liek it ses hes tearing himself apart. Possibly, partially. Not the true meaning, though. It isn't what he means to convey. (I would also like to point out the sound effect that is similar to a heart monitor-that's how I hear it, anyway.) Here's my interpretation: First Verse- This would have to do with being trapped inside yourself (along with your 'demons' and such) without being able to find a way out. "Bad things slither" being those bad thoughts and/or demons inside you. "My floors are burning down" would have to do with those thoughts closing in on you and entrapping you amongst them. "And I can't find a window" would be the final way of saying, 'There is no escape'. Second Verse- [Not completely sure with the beginning of this verse, but I have a slight idea.] "This is medieval", meaning the thoughts are very primitive. "This is cerebral", has to do with the cerebrum where perception, imagination, thought, judgment, and decision occur. One could say that he feels as if there is a sickness (mentally) infecting these areas of his brain. "Suffocated", again, being trapped in it. "Melodramatic", others or himself feeling as if he is being overemotional about the matter. Third Verse- "Driven to the verge of", basically saying, 'I didn't have a choice, but was made to do this (by the thoughts? Possible. I've had that feeling before, though I still don't understand it, so..). "I make you my enemy", because of this, you are now an enemy. "The nerves you sever"..."Can serve you better", cutting off the ties to these (nerves=thoughts) will help you feel (serve you) better. Fourth Verse- "In the blink of an eye".."In the space of a second", very quickly. "Open my wrists".."Give me my lessons", Punish me and teach me 'my lessons'. Final- "Tearing myself apart from the things that make me hurt", mentally distancing yourself from what makes you hurt. (To a point of almost no emotion. It's a way of protecting yourself FROM yourself, one could say. I've done this as well.) Anything you agree/disagree with should be replied. I'd love to hear your take on it. Unless you're going to be one of those illiterate people with horrible grammar who don't fully explain why they see the song the way they say they do. Thanks. ;D |
