Guy Clark – The Randall Knife Lyrics 13 years ago
The meaning is obvious. It's about the relationship between father and son. A simple song, but so powerful. Makes me tear up every time. I'll take my dad's cane knife when the time comes. Just an old machete blade on an axe handle, but it's blistered both our hands many times along the road.

Jim White – A Perfect Day to Chase Tornados Lyrics 13 years ago
Calm before the storm. A tornado always sneaks up on you. Blind girl thinks she's being saved, but she's in for a wild ride. Preacher, always confident in salvation, fucks up, but calm in death. If you're a hunter or veteran, you know the calm before dying. Moral, live it up while you can, you never know when this will end and the next begins, if there is a next. Even the preacher isn't sure

Bill Callahan – Drover Lyrics 13 years ago
Callahan is a loner, a drifter, a cowboy, a drover, one who works cattle, never stays in one place for long. At its simplest, a song about loneliness and desperation. "People" don"t understand him. It is the way of the drover and the way drovering will always be, as much as one wants to quit and be loved

Guy Clark – The Cape Lyrics 13 years ago
No one has commented about this yet? This song is about being an outsider for your whole life. You know it, accept it, and don't give a shit. Great song

The Walkmen – The Love You Love Lyrics 13 years ago
Sorry bout that. Changed the 3rd and 4th lines. I'll change the 6th and 18th if we figure it out. Other sites say "Playing the one you're trying to be", definitely wrong. Maybe it's "Maybe/Baby I/it wont ever be." Thoughts? If we don't get it I'll try to ask Hamilton when I see em later this month.
