| George Michael – Father Figure Lyrics

It's easy to read the lyrics and think he's up to no good or pedo or something. But the song might be about how some girls never have a father figure and still need that male influence in their lives, but they have had a long list of set backs. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because his homosexuality doesn't need be a part of the song. |

I think the song means that you shouldn't say hurtful things even if you think it's the "truth". Once you open up your mouth and blurt out hurtful things to someone like a child, you have to take responsibility for what you've said. I guess it's about overly opinionated people who judge others but then fail to meet up to their own bs. |

| George Michael – Monkey Lyrics

I think you shouldn't interpret the song literally. You could interpret the monkey as representing something that causes someone to think a certain way. You might listen to what your mom tells you, what your friends tell you, or you might just have misgivings about having a sexual relationship because you were brought up in a religious setting. I think the monkey is kinda like a personality disorder.
That's my take on it. |

He's a narcissist, and the pattern represents his "reality". She loses the pattern after she asserts her own moral fiber. It's interesting how at first you sympathize with him, but as the song progresses you realize he's not the victim. |
