| I haven't done any research on it or anything, but I feel like this song might possibly be referring to some type of Norse myth...I mean, Of Monsters & Men is a band from Iceland so wouldn't it make sense for them to write a song revolving around their homeland's mythology? I agree that this is about faith but I would like to elaborate a little on jajohnson021's earlier comment... It seems like at the end they find faith because it says, "I met a man today and he smiled back at me/Now there are thoughts like these that keep me on my feet, that keep me on my feet" I am also thinking that the "you" in the song is God or Jesus or some religious figure. To support this: "The carpet on my cheek feels like a forest/And I run through the tall trees with your hand chasing me" (Is the person bowing to God/Jesus here?) "The books that I keep by my bed are full of your stories" (The Bible?) "And I'll meet your eyes for the very first time, for the very last" (The person is promising that they just need a little help and will not ask for more.) "...to forgive and forget...So love me mother and love me father and love my sister as well" (I was thinking this about the person asking God/Jesus to let their mother and father forgive them and their sister...?) This is just what I think... |

I totally agree that this is the best song on My Head Is an Animal! But I can't figure out what it means... First it's saying that they are staying where they are, then it seems like they are traveling somewhere. Help? |
