I was hoping other people had some suggestions, but it seems I'm the first. The song seems to evoke some imagery of abandoning a child into the foster system (Victim of the system, say it isn't so/ Squatted on the doorstep, swollen on the blow/ Leaving without you, can't say no; ...You've got my eyes, you've got my eyes/ You'll never be mine, ah, but you've got my eyes) It could be about an unhealthy and/or on-again-off-again relationship, but it feels deeper than that. Maybe I'm wrong. |

| Totally thirding this. It's eerily similar. Flaying alive??? Stolen powers??? I would be surprised if that's a coincidence. And the song is supposed to be about "an assassination", according to the band... hm... | |

I'm 99% positive that if this show was based on any fandom, it was based on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It has an eery amount in common with Dark Willow in the end of season 6. She sought out the Trio She literally flayed Warren alive The "bored now" line comes to mind, among other examples of her wanting the Trio to shut up. She wasn't scared of Giles' 'stolen' power (his borrowed good magic) The rest is more general, but it obviously applies to Dark Willow against the world. I stopped reading Twilight after the first book, so I can't speak to the song's relevance there. But even the tone of the song sounds a darkly mystical, and very much like music I would have put in the background of that Buffy episode. |
