I believe that the Cysquatch is, as everyone has stated, a mythical one eyed Sasquatch that can see into the future, and I believe he might be the protector, or Guardian Angel, of sorts of Blood Mountain, his ability to see into the future his super natural way of being able to watch out for the mountain and prevent utter death and destruction. Protector of it's place on blood mountain Fly through dreamscapes refers to the Protagonist astral traveling in the soul of the Capillarian, and in his travels he sees the race of Cysquatch and meets the one who warns him of his premonition. The robot voice, meant to signify the telling of the future, in my opinion, as it is very reminiscent of the vocal effects in Black Sabbath's Iron Man, the tale of a person who could also see into the future, is the voice of the Cysquatch who warns the Protagonist of the dangers that lie ahead in the labyrinth, either a literal labyrinth of sorts, or a metaphor for the journey the Protagonist will have to fight through in his own mind in the form of hallucinations, as well as physically in the form of the benevolent "Birchmen" The eyes all around you, meaning that the Gods, as well as the cysquatch will be watching him on his journey. Visions of the hunted, obviously being the Protagonist who will be hunted, and the cysquatch gives the warning the beware the birchmen The final stanza, referencing incisors, indicated to me that perhaps the Cysquatch are trapped on Blood Mountain by the mystical forces of the Crystal Skull. Incisors are a type of tooth inherent to Primates, and non existant in dogs, as dogs mouths ensist entirely of canines, and if the Gods are to return the Protagonist to human form, he will regain his incisors, and if the incisors represent the "skulls" or lives of the cysquatch, as I have taken it to mean, then perhaps the placement of the Crystal Skull atop the mountain will release the Cysquatch from a curse as well that is keeping them trapped on Blood Mountain |

In my opinion, the first half of this song is about a blood containing sacrificee (Capillarian), that has indeed been sacrificed (gone away), and the Hero describes how he will use the soul of the sacrificial whatever in order to Astral Travel (one's consciousness leaving their own body) about Blood Mountain in an effort to find a way to the top, so that He can place the Crystal Skull there and remove the curse of being a Werewolf. In the transition to the song where we have the refrain Capillarian Carnate, I believe this refers to the Protagonist being incarnated into his victims body, his mind is again interrupted by hallucinations of the demons unleashed by the Crystal Skull who are telling the hero "you don't have to do this, you can just kill yourself and end it now" The running river of violence, I think, refers to the river of lava that has flowed from the sleeping giant, rising from the mercury, mercury possibly something that you might find in lava, or maybe not, I really don't know, and climbing to the top we bestow our trust, I think this means that the Protagonist must find his way around the lava, and the Gods will only bestow their trust upon him to release him from his curse if he is able to get to the top of Blood Mountain to place the skull there. And the final stanza is a call from the Gods to indeed, Astral Travel, take away the anchor of your physical body, and find the path, or "map" to the end of your quest. |

The First Stanza, Earth has burst Mountain flames Moon Beheld Father snake Mind control Has left its nest is about the Sleeping Giant, inactive volcano, the instrumental intro is the Hero looking up at the mountain and admiring it, hearing birds passing over head, but as the floor toms come in at the end, we get the sense of impending doom, and the eruption of the first lines is the lava exploding from the top of the mountain. Moon beheld, is stating that the Werewolf is making his journey at night, Father Snake, I believe, refers to feeling that he has been lied to, or at the very least taken advantage of by the Gods, and the last two lines refer to the Crystal Skull leaving its resting place and causing disorder on Blood Mountain. That is a really interesting take on this, But it really is a mythological tale of a person chosen by the gods to retrieve a crystal Skull Crystal Skulls are a real thing that exist, and they're entirely mysterious as to their origins and their purpose. Native Central Americans said that these crystal skulls contained immense amounts of energy. Other people think that aliens left them and they could be anything from super computers to weapons. It is true that Crystal Skulls have the potential to hold massive amounts of data within it, if you could find a way to decypher that data after. I think the Crystal Skull the character in this story is looking for is probably some sort of tool the Gods are using to keep order and "peace" on Blood Mountain, and I think someone hit a great point on the line about the resonance within the Skull not allowing for a normal mortal man to be able to possess the skull and therefore needing of our Werewolf hero. Also someone else really hit the nail on the head with the skull causing him to become disoriented, but I don't necessarily think it's the story of him escaping the cave. I think in the final stanza the touch is cold i tore a path screaming through wind and blood i will it all burning deep in my skull This is the moment of triumph where he has fought his way past the demons that have tormented him as he got closer and closer to the Skull, as an act to deter him from his task, and he has finally found the Skull. He has "willed it all" acting out mind over matter, in his quest to overcome the hallucinations caused by the Crystal skull and he can finally lay his Werewolf hands upon it. |
