| I believe this songs is about the pressure that parents put on their children to be 'perfect'. What parents don't realize that by trying to force their ideals on their children is that they are trying to force their children to become someone who they aren't. Sometimes when the child can't taken such high expectations anymore, they explode and harsh words are shared between the parent and child. And some words just can't be taken back or changed, which leads to a rift forming between the parent and child. In the end, the expectations and ideals forced upon a child can cause families to grow apart. | |
