@[natek12831:2046] I think it's about a Roman gladiator as well. As if that wasn't deep enough anyways.
I think she imagined this gladiator back in Rome and how his life was- basically, a life that could end at any moment. So he becomes an hedonist, obsessed with living the moment, and celebrating every day like it's the last one. He fights in the arena, is victorious and throws a big wild, party, like the world is going to end because his world can end the next day. At some point, he becomes so used to it that he just goes with the flow; he doesn't mind breaking glasses just to hear them crack or fighting his best friend because basically, his life is all about destruction. He doesn't even care about his own death because he's done it too many times now. But it's alright if others do. Could it be a very elaborate metaphor of nowadays society? Yes. Does that mean it couldn't be, at the same time, a story about a gladiator? No.

Actually is spelled Federico, not Fedrico, and his name was Federico GARCÃA Lorca, since in Spain people have two surnames. He wasn't a composer-hence, he didn't compose any waltz- he was a poet and a writer, one of the best in the 20th century. And he didn't die during any revolution, he died at the start of the Spanish Civil War. And he didn't die under the revolutionary flag-the revolutionaries, if you want to call them so, were the Spanish Army officers who decided to overthrow the former democratic republic government of Spain with a coup d'Etat which ended in a disgusting war- In fact, he didn't die under any flag. He was simply murdered by some illiterate soldiers who killed him because of being a homosexual. Its said that his last words, before being shot to death were "Don't shoot, I believe in the Virgin [Mary]" BTW, it reminds me much more of the fights in England during the 17th century |

I also think vampires are metaphorical in this song, but I see it in a very different way: like she's a vampire (a "dark person") loving someone because of his innocence, and pretending being as innocent as him. She has everything "opportunities for eternity" (as vampires are able to live forever), meaning she had already everything she need it, till she met him. Eyes are told to be "mirrors of the soul" in many cultures, so she can see the innocence and virtue of her beloved through them. And that "makes her wanna die", become a mortal, become "vulnerable" as innocent people is. She will never be good enough because she's already in the "evil" side. And once he learns the true, he will see he has been loving a lie "everything you love/ will burn up in the light", the light being the metaphor of truth. The verses "Take me, I'm alive" and "Taste me, drink my soul, show me all the things that I shouldn't know, what matters a blue moon on the rise" would be quotes of her beloved |

and well, if conventional does not exist in our society-and I'm not defending it, either- how do we now what conventional is? I mean, if red didn't exist, how could we difference it from the rest of the colors? |

I do not think "One Of Those Girls" is bubblegum anyway. It's as bubblegum as Sk8 Boi (and it also has a very similar meaning" |

Believe me, bellababy, it depends on where you live. Don't forget Lavigne grew up in a little Canadian town- and I'm not meaning being conventional is necessarily a bad thing- BTW, I still hesitate if you agree or disagree with my comment |

I'd say that what she means it's that someday she will live in her own house-not her parents'- To me the "etcetera" means what we all understand as a conventional life: a job, a husband, children...the whole "mature" thing xd
By the way, love this song. I relate to it SO MUCH |
