Message is pretty straightforward. I really love how this song is structured, it makes it so much more emotional. He wants listeners to be overwhelmed with joy as they hear of his future plans that are centred around his unborn child and only at the very end does he shatter all hopes and dreams, "four months then torn from life". |

Agree with the above comment. Their chosen paths caused them to drift and they parted ways. I like the play on words, "You and I" and "U.N.I" as in university. I also thought a previous comment suggesting that "uni" could refer to one was interesting. It seems a bit one sided that he's blaming her choice to go to university and not his own choice to follow his music career. Maybe I'm reading too far into it though. LOVE this song. |

I think the first verse is quite straightforward. He accepts her past and that she is very guarded. He also acknowledges that his past isn't very bright either and hopes that she'll let him in. He sees in her that she is very caught up in the past and that she "can't sleep thinking that he lies still" in other words, she knows that whatever this person has done to hurt her he is doing again to another person. I like the last part of the second verse... i think it's going back to her previous relationship and talking about how her friends all encouraged her believing she was "following [her] heart" but they were looking at the relationship the wrong way and should have been honest and told her "something to to save [her]" |
