Maybe this song is about when years later the ‘one who got away ‘ maybe broke your heart and is always never too far from the back of your mind returns into your proximity and you get confused and wonder what might have been. You still carry a torch but it’s tainted with hate because they hurt you. You have moved on, your even happy but now you’re in turmoil because dormant emotions stir. |

I think this song relates to when it’s late, the bars getting empty and desperate souls are looking for a liaison for the night, they ate either lost (no nookie) or found (nookie :)) |

I get a feeling this song is about coming to terms with the realisation that the dreams and ambitions we have in our youth have not all been achieved and life did turn out quite the the way we had planned. But that's ok because despite that we can find happiness and contentment in what we have while still imagining what we could have had but not chasing it because doing so would jeopardise what we have. Great use of metaphors in this song. We are big ships in our own minds, yet to the observer we are merely a dot on the horizon. |

I love this tune, it tells the story of Charlie Mason and Jeremiah Dixon and their trials and tribulations as they mapped out the Mason Dixon line. It is a song sung well by Mark Knopfler and James Taylor and written so beautifully. I can listen to this over and over again. |
