I believe it's about two depressed people. "I regarded the world as such a sad sight Until I viewed it in black and white Then I reviewed every frame and basic shape And sealed the exits with caution tape" At first Adam is depressed, he wants to die. But then he examines life as a whole, and realized that suicide is not an answer to your problems ("And sealed the exits with caution tape"). "Don't refocus your eyes in the darkness And don't remember this place unless I describe all the things that you cannot see And we'll unravel the mystery" Now he's talking to someone else (Vienna). He doesn't want her to focus on all the negatives. The things she can't see are the "positives." "Farewell, all my friends in textbooks I'm going home 'Cause my blood cells cannot depend On the weather in photographs" Adam is saying he isn't going to join "his friends in textbooks" by dying. His bloods cells = emotions (or body in general). His emotions shouldn't be affected by something physical (the weather). "There's a light show out my window Somewhere way up there" Behind all the evil in world there is still an underlying joy. "Dear Vienna, are you singing? Dear Vienna, are you swinging?" He's asking Vienna something... either if she's still happy, or still alive. "Dear Vienna, we were happy Like the shades of May When we got carried away I was so far out of place Watching those stars in outer space 'Cause I am so far from where you are" These lines hint how they got their depression. Perhaps they broke up or Vienna died. Overall, it's about something happening to this "couple." Both of them then spiral into depression because they are not with each other, but then one overcomes it and then sends a message to the other telling her how to overcome it also. |

I believe Adam is trying to tell us something in this song... "If we could sit together a moment, and talk forever just to pass the time, I would smile as the shivers and chills run down my spine, and your eyes are locked on mine." We have our eyes locked on him... it must be important. And why would he get shivers and chills? It must be a pretty nerve-racking subject to talk about. I also believe what he wants to tell us is spiritual. "Deep inside of you is a ruby glow" What is the ruby glow? Maybe the soul. We know Adam's pretty religious. Also one of the last lines "Open your eyes and see everything you can be" also ties in for the nerve-racking subject presented at the beginning. |

| "The indications reveal that few us realize life is quite surreal" Doesn't make sense, since 80% of the world's population believes in a higher being. So that makes me think he isn't talking about angels as... the angels with wings and halos. Yet, the song seems pretty supernatural. So maybe's an entirely different concept... | |
