I definitely agree with you! I believe that this song is focused very heavily on her time in the Asylum and how she feels about it; but also the people there, not only herself. Having to listen to what others tell her. |

Just saying, but it doesn't really sound like her. The style or her voice. The first time I heard it I thought it was Gwen Stefani. |

Starlight is a brunette ;) ask the question if it's about a person on tumblr, and at least a third of your responses will say it's about Tara (her current makeup artist) because they're adorable together :P |

The first time I heard the title of this and the first time I listened to it my immediate reaction was to think of the legend of Bloody Mary (sorry if I'm about to creep people out haha), the demon-thingy-person that apparently kills you if you say her name 5 times in a mirror or some stupid shit like that. That was my first thought. I'm not even slightly religious, so I didn't really pay attention to the christian references. But if I'm putting that meaning on it the only real bit that I believe can reference it is the chorus~~
I won't cry for you
I won't crucify the things you do
I won't cry for you, see,
When you're gone, I'll still be Bloody
Mary.
She won't cry for them, because they called for her. She killed 'you', whoever 'you' is referenced to at the time, but she's going to continue killing people when they call for her, because it's what she does ;)
Was this anyone else's first thought when they first heard the song, or just the title? |

Kind of off topic, but Im homosexual, and this song has a really deep meaning for me. Again with the whole forbidden love/Romeo and Juliet theme, for me it's about running away to somewhere my gf and I can live normally and not be judged <3 |

I think how she says "Hello, hello, remember me?" and the "It's only me infecting everything you love," is their way of saying 'Hey, we're back in business, releasing songs again, did you forget about me? did you miss me?' :P |

My story is similar to that of Rooie's. I never thought of the song this way until tonight, but after re-reading the lyrics (and listening to it a fair few times) I realised how much I relate to this.
When I was 6 or so, my school was called to an assembly/memorial at the end of the day. It was one of our senior leaders - she'd been stabbed that morning. I - being the young age I was - was sad but I didn't think it would tie in to me at all. Later I would find out, that the girl who had been stabbed, was my step-sister. I went to my after school hours care, as I usually would, getting food ect. when one of the carers came up to me and asked me to wait outside and look for someone close to my family. I did as I was told and was soon after picked up by the woman who took care of me when I was sick and my parents were at work. The line "has no one told you she's not breathing," to me at the time was more of a "did anyone tell you who the girl was." So by the time I got home I walked inside and my parents were sitting there and I started to tell them about the service when my mum stopped me and made me sit down. I remember her saying (I wont use a name for personal reasons), "Kristy** died this morning. She was stabbed." I may have been young, but I hit me so hard. I didn't cry until later that night (I didn't believe everyone still - "if I smile and don't believe") when I got up to get a drink and I walked past the TV where it showed my sisters house, with her face and the flowers around it. That was the "suddenly I know I'm not sleeping" for me.
But yeah, I didn't realise how much meaning this song actually had for me. <3 |
